Say hello to Dr. Jack Silva, one of the newest additions to the New Bethany board of directors. Jack has lived his entire life within the Bethlehem community and remembers New Bethany from its inception. He has grown more aware of the organization’s critical services since he began working as superintendent of Bethlehem Area School District. He regularly sees students and families who need New Bethany’s support; he knows firsthand that our services are indispensable.
Jack’s lifelong connection to South Bethlehem is a crucial motivator in his new role on our board of directors. He feels a strong tie to his community and its need to be served by New Bethany. As superintendent, he has built relationships with other local organizations with similar missions. He hopes to bring his perspective from his educational role and more connections to New Bethany.
“Many times, New Bethany is the best or only support available for the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Jack. “The direct support and empowerment that New Bethany gives children and families is very appealing to me.”
On the Board of Directors, Jack is interested in listening and learning how to best serve his colleagues and the community at large. He is particularly excited to work on affordable housing and food security initiatives since they are a shared interest for BASD.
He’s ready to apply his existing experience in organizational leadership to help the board with finance, strategic planning, and community outreach. Above all, though, he’s excited to bring his love for Bethlehem to the table.
In his free time, Jack enjoys living in Bethlehem, experiencing arts and culture in the Lehigh Valley, and attending school events. He is a proud Fountain Hill Elementary, Broughal Junior High, and Liberty High School 1982 graduate.
