Woman with red hair smiling.Born and raised in South Bethlehem, Georgine Olexa’s connection to New Bethany feels very personal. She has been familiar with our work to meet the basic needs of this community since being introduced to the organization in the late 1990’s. Our mission resonated with Georgine as she sees her own family’s journey reflected in New Bethany’s emphasis on fostering self-sufficiency. When she learned about New Bethany’s call for new Board members, she deeply explored our programs and was impressed by the wide range of our current services.

Georgine brings an outstanding background of experience to the Board. With over forty years of legal and risk management expertise, her career started in the private practice of law, focusing on civil matters, including estates, guardianships, contracts, real estate, insurance, and education issues. She also had an active litigation practice specializing in professional and general liability cases. After shifting to health law and risk management, she spent the last eighteen years working in non-profit health care systems before retiring.

Her non-profit experience paired with a personal quest for meaningful volunteer work made joining the Board an easy decision.

Georgine sees her role on the Board as a chance to learn about the organization and its operations so she can serve it and its clients better. She looks forward to her position on the By-Laws Committee and working with her colleagues to support the governance of the organization. She is committed to being a good steward of the resources entrusted to New Bethany by donors, supporting the ongoing success of the organization.

She believes that New Bethany has given her the opportunity to pay her blessings forward in a way that truly aligns with her values. To Georgine, New Bethany’s work in alleviating housing and food insecurity impacts not only the lives of individuals served but also the community as a whole. She looks forward to being a part of our organization and getting started on future projects and initiatives.
