Rittle, the executive director of New Bethany, Inc., brings valuable experience to the Bethlehem Housing Authority.  

John Marc RittleThe Bethlehem Housing Authority (BHA) has named John Marc Rittle, executive director of New Bethany, Inc., as chairperson of its board of commissioners. Rittle, who has dedicated his career to finding solutions to hunger and homelessness, was elected chairperson through a majority vote at the board’s January 2026 meeting. 

“Housing is at the core of stability for individuals and families,” said Rittle. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to support the Bethlehem Housing Authority’s work and help advance solutions that ensure every resident has a place to call home.”

As chairperson, Rittle oversees the board of commissioners’ monthly meetings, which inform Bethlehem residents about events and opportunities of interest to the community. BHA board meetings provide updates on housing projects, grant status, renovations and other community initiatives.

Appointed by Bethlehem Mayor William Reynolds, each member of the board of commissioners serves staggered, five-year terms. Rittle was appointed to the board by Mayor Reynolds in October 2022. 

“John Marc brings a strong understanding of the challenges facing our community and a clear commitment to addressing them,” said John Ritter, executive director of the Bethlehem Housing Authority. “We’re confident his leadership will help guide the board as we continue to serve Bethlehem residents.”

Rittle’s first term on the Housing Authority board will end in 2027.
