New Bethany Ministries (NBM) serves hundreds of Lehigh Valley residents through their housing assistance and representative payee services. As housing needs in our community continue, assistance in the two vital areas is necessary, resulting in the creation of the residential advisor position under the residential services program. The two new hires, Albert Molina-Santiago, and Kelly Brown will report to Director of Residential Services Lupita Bonilla.

Santiago started at NBM as a caretaker in May 2022 and was promoted to a residential advisor in September because of his rapport with residents. He took the initiative in addressing all resident concerns and provided creative ideas for creating a more welcoming environment for residents.

Brown stepped into her new position on September 19, 2022. She has previous experience in daycare, which has helped her to approach client work at NBM with heart and compassion. She hopes to eventually return to school for her social work degree.

Residential advisors are responsible for multiple client services including, but not limited to, completing intake assessments for single-room occupancy applicants, maintaining waitlists with Housing Advocates, holding monthly resident meetings, resolving resident conflicts, inspecting residents’ rooms, preparing reports for funding and government agencies, and assuring rents are paid. They report to the manager of family housing.

“Albert and Kelly have been a great help to our organization since starting their new roles in September,” says Veronne Demesyeux, associate executive director at NBM. “Our residents love having them around to provide assistance as they need. The responsibilities of a residential advisor are not easy, but these two have taken on the role with grace.”
