Meet Brenda Ramos, a dedicated member of New Bethany’s team who has been with us for nearly three years.
Brenda’s journey at New Bethany goes far beyond numbers and paperwork. She has worn many hats, starting as a housing advocate in June 2022 and then stepping up to become a residential advisor in August 2023. By June 2024, she was promoted to representative payee assistant—each role giving her new skills and deepening her understanding of the people we serve.
She has been in the role of human resources and accounts payable since February 2025, a new position at New Bethany, where she handles finance-related work and manages any human resources-related inquiries.
Brenda’s connection to New Bethany is deeply personal. Born and raised in South Bethlehem, she remembers watching friends and family members rely on the organization’s support. Her mother-in-law also volunteered at New Bethany, and from an early age, Brenda was aware she wanted to support her community.
“I wanted to give back to the community I came from,” Brenda shares. “It just felt like the right place for me.”
One of Brenda’s most rewarding experiences occurred during her time as a housing advocate, where she helped a mother with five children find stable housing after they had been homeless. The mother, who was also battling cancer, was staying in a shelter in Allentown with her children. Brenda worked tirelessly to connect her with the Rapid Rehousing Program, offering hope in a difficult time.
“It was incredibly fulfilling to see the difference we made in her life,” said Brenda, reflecting on that moment.
When she’s not making a difference at New Bethany, Brenda enjoys reading, traveling and eating. She also loves attending concerts and buying plants (which her husband ends up tending). Despite her busy schedule, Brenda manages to balance her career, personal interests and a deep commitment to her community.
We are incredibly grateful for Brenda’s contributions to New Bethany, and we’re excited to see the continued positive impact she’ll make, whether it’s supporting the finance department or providing meaningful assistance to clients.
